Q Written Critical Analysis of a Work of Digital Art or Media Design: Major Project 2, Analysis of second new media art/design project Your second major project due week 10 is designed to prepare you to eventually engage with a question of your own. For this assignment you need to evaluate one work of art or design which you can select from a list and provide an outline of the basic premise or question that drives the project and how you think the site was developed. For this week, you will perform a brief analysis similar to my discussion of Toxic Sites (See Lesson 10). You need to consider how you can extract data from the project and implement analysis according to the methods discussed in class thus far. If the project has written content, consider text-mining it in order to answer or support your analysis. If the project has images, find a way to extract them as an image sequence or capture stills which you can then analyze according to one of the methods covered in class. Many images can be interpolated as colors, either by counting pixels in Photoshop or submitting them to websites like Palette Generator (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.. Consider quantifying audio, rhythm, shape, composition, or other specific formal (i.e. "of the form") elements. Make sure to include all analysis including any image or text visualizations produced to support your argument. You may present them in similar ways to previous assignments and exercises in which you initially learned the methods. Your analysis description must be between 400 and 600 words. Upload or post your analysis to this forum. In this case you have two online resources to choose from. Both of them should provide you with plenty of works of art that can be data-mined with one of the methods you learned for image and/or text. You cannot write about a project you discussed in a previous assignment. Electronic Literature Review: http://collection.eliterature.org/Links to an external site.
